Little Brickhouse

Bit chilly out there today, innit?

Lucky for us, we have some of the heartiest and most warming food going right on our doorsteps, thanks to the lovely folk of @littlebrickhouserestaurant.

I can highly recommend wrapping up warm and heading out to this Derby Road delicacy, where both the delightful dishes and the lovely staff will be sure to warm your cockles!

We headed over for a spot of lunch last Saturday and it was just as gorgeous as the first time I’d visited earlier in the year – which isn’t a surprise when their focus is on creating interesting dishes based around seasonal produce, and cooking it all up with love. Eating at Little Bricks feels a lot like eating at home.

I was tempted by the fry up, which I’ve heard is absolutely smashing, but I’ve never been much of a fry up girl and couldn’t refuse the call of the goulash – chunks of pork with fresh cream and pesto, butter beans and the brightest lettuce I’ve ever seen. It was absolutely stunning, and I’ve seen on their new menu that it’s now available with fresh pasta, so I’m sure I would love it even more now!

Richard went for the Turkish Lentil Stew, and honestly, can anything be more warming than that? With a bowl that deep, there has to be bread to go alongside, and Little Bricks source theirs from bakery legends @toughmarysbakehouse just down the road. The bread came alongside some curried butter, which was so chef’s kiss I can’t even begin to describe it.

I think I might have said this last time, but Little Bricks really is an absolute gem of a place. If you haven’t already, get it on your list!
